Hi all!

First time boat owner, well it was given to me. The transom looks great, no rot or weakness that I can see. There is no floor but ALOT of foam. The motor runs from what I was told but I am not starting it up until it’s serviced and the boat is repaired.
My thoughts are to take the boat completely apart and build the floor. Rebuild and custom modify the entire boat. Any tips and insight would be great!

I would be VERY suspicious of that transom being good. If everything else is bad then almost guaranteed the transom is too. Make sure the engine is good and you know what you are getting into before you start spending money. Old boats can be a real money sinkhole!

So get the motor checked out first. If it’s not working or the repairs are too much just call it a loss.

There are plenty of ways to test the stringers and transom look up some different ways and go with Wich one you feel comfortable with. Turn that engine over and see if she fires up and go from there. Old boat can be money pits but if you do it right atleast byou know what you got and it's actually not that hard a fun

Welcome aboard.

When I see something like this, I wonder how bad the boat really is.

With all the exposed flotation foam, it would be a good idea to do some core sampling. Foam can be dry as a bone on top and dripping on the bottom.

The outlet I’m guessing was wired to the battery….. keep the phone charged in case of sinking…. If it will ever stop raining here I can get back to the boat
