Re: Any one catch crabs and fish at the same time?????
Not quite the same but a fun story...back when I was about 12 or so I was fishing with my younger brother off a public pier at Topsail Beach, NC. I needed to use the restroom so I propped my rod up against the handrail and had my brother watch it for me while I was gone. When I got back I discovered my line had drifted up under the pier so I started to reel it in. Once I took up all the slack, I felt something heavy...first thing I see emerge from the water was a crab that had apparently grabbed onto my bait. But there was something else. Turns out my hook had caught onto a fishing rod that someone had lost off the side of the pier at some point. There had to be several years worth of silt, slime, and mud caked onto this thing. Took it back to my dad, who disassembled, cleaned, and oiled the reel, and it worked perfectly. I ended up fishing with it for several years after that since it was nicer than the setup I had to begin with
