2004 Sea Ray 240 Select

Powered by Mercruiser 496 MG with Bravo one. Only has 142 hours. I can get her for 21,000 with trailer.

I imagine this should do much better than the 5.0's I was looking at previously?

Pros/Cons to this engine?

496: good good engine, closed cooling, fuel consumption is directly related to how hard you push with your right hand!

Yes the closed cooling really caught my eye! I assume the antifreeze is cooled by a raw water system? Considering this boat has no real radiator.

Yes that will be much better than a 5.0. The smart craft guages are a real bonus to a tech nerd like me and are a 1k upgrade when new.

I would think most boats of that caliber would have the bravo 3 drive but it is a very expensive add on when new.

We were looking at the bravo 3's also. However after talking with the merc repair section the bravo 1 will suit my needs for now. I can always swap in a bravo 3 lower unit as the upper units are identical.
