Would the post that has the explanation on changing exhaust bellows without having to remove the drive apply to my boat? I have the 1998 drive DP-SM1.95 M2241120519713868913

Also, what is the annual maintenance that should be done. I have typically just checked the box to service the outdrives on my winter storage checklist with the marina but am leaning towards starting this myself after they failed to change my oil last year.

My engine # is 1998 5.0GLPBYC 4110162852 3868854

Thanks - James

Re: Another Changing Bellows Question

Thanks Don. I was reading the thread you have posted in the DYI section where you could change the bellows by removing the upper gear box.

You don't have that type of drive.

Re: Another Changing Bellows Question

Are there any past threads that would be around on the steps to removing my type of outdrive?

Re: Another Changing Bellows Question

Just remove the plastic cover on the back of the drive.
Disconnect the linkage by removing the 3 items shown in the picture below.

On trim cylinder, remove the plastic cap and C clip holding the trim cylinders to the back of the drive and remove the cross pin.

Remove the 6 nuts holding the drive to the pivot housing and pull the outdrive off.

You rock Don.

So when I go to put it back on do I need to worry about alignment issues or should it just slide right back into place?

Re: Another Changing Bellows Question

You check the alignment with an alignment bar and align if necessary by adjusting the front engine mounts.
