Just replaced transom in '72 Starcraft aluminum I-O boat. Failed to put rubber washers on anode-head bolts and it leaks.
Can I put some sealer around the anode-head or must I remove the bolts and reinstall. Motor is installed so its a tight fit to remove the bolts.
Thanks
Ray

There's several sealers that you can use, but on my 30 year old riveted aluminum canoe I use that 3-M yellow weatherstrip adhesive to seal rivets, thru-hull bolts, seams....it's tough stuff, sticks on there good, stays flexible....you could put it on the outside and inside of the hull....clean and/or sand the area best you can for best adhesion.....You can check your seams and re-apply about once a year....

Do it right and forget about it. Quick fix often do not last and give at the worst times.

if you want to save time now you can seal it and then you can do the transom again in a year or two

Pulled the bolts out and added the washers.
Thanks Guys
It's best to do it right. I guess I was looking for a short cut.
