So on our return trip from the lake last weekend, I noticed I had lost my trailer brakes and lights, and on closer inspection my truck brake lights went as well. (Blew 3, 30 amp fuses on the way home)

And yes they only blow when I make an brake application (close the circuit)

OK, so I gotta dead short somewere between the brake pedal, the lighting harness and the trailer brakes and lights.

So the first thing I will check is the truck and the plug to see if its on the truck side.
Now the trailer besides the plug and the wires shorting how often do the brake "PUCKS" short out internally????

They (pucks) have to be worn down pretty bad to short out. You could have a wire shorting out that goes to the pucks.

For what its worth, "found it"

Right were the reach and the hitch meet, the loom full of wires drops out to the plug, well the loom wrap had come off and 3 of the 6 wires were bared to the copper from rubbing.
Better get 6 feet of the plastic loom and install it all the way down the reach.

(you would think they would do a better job at the factory!!!)

The wire bundle coming out of the front of the tongue on mine has gotten wacked many a time when the trailer rolls forward a bit just as the hitch comes off the ball.

I rewired it recently. When I put the new Y harness in, I routed it out of the top of the tongue out of harms way. When I hitch up, I put the wire through the loop of the lock on the hitch to control the dangle.

Trailer also had numerous scotchlock splices inside the frame for the clearance lights. New clearance lights have soldered on extensions that go to the nearest tail light pocket, where they are solder spliced and sleeved. Splice is solid and sealed, and in the open if it ever needs service.
