An offer made...

I've been unable (health) to spend hardly any time on the water for almost two months and have been complaining (wife says whining) about it for almost as long. By chance, my adult daughter is visiting tomorrow and the weatherman Is calling for a perfect (low 80's and sunshine) day. My wife and she talked for a spell on the phone tonight and when finished my wife said;

We talked it over and we will take you to the lake tommorow. I began to say something about not sure I can do the work and she said, You misunderstand, you will be the passenger and we will handle everything. HOWEVER... Rule is, you have nothing to say about how we do it. No "explaining", no "this is the way", no comments period!

They are both capable and have handed different boats and we'll be taking an 18' open bow, well withing their capabilities. The question is, can I keep my trap shut and just enjoy the water time? :D

My daughter and my wife have a bet (undisclosed terms) going on if I can do it or not. No idea which one is betting which way, the wife wouldn't elaborate!

Sorry to hear about your health problems. But, it's very cool that you have a wife and daughter so supportive!

As for the bet, if they're capable boaters, just keep yer darn trap shut unless you're in imminent danger. Don't want to mess with a good thing :)

If it were me I'd probably have a hard time keeping quiet but I'd NEVER let them know it out of respect for what they were trying to do for me.

Have fun!:)

pretend you are on a charter, you are the guest, and they are there to operate the boat. take a folding chair, for the launch, and loading. that way you have a place to sit, whether it takes 2 minutes, or 2 hours. they jack knife the trailer, etc.

if you can stand it, turn the chair around away from them.

AND KEEP THE TRAP SHUT. if you do, they will take you again, if not you will be at home whining.

my Dad, use to have several friends, who would take him fishing. they would come connect Dad's boat, and the friend would do the launch and retrieve, etc.

You don't really have to keep your trap shut, just make sure when you open it the only thing you say is "DANG I'M LUCKY!!!":D:D
I suppose "Thanks Ladies" could slip out as well!
Enjoy your day and your family!

If you can remain silent while they launch and retrieve you are a better man than I:D

Enjoy the day, good luck with the fishing(do they fillet the fish and cook too? seems like it should be part of the deal to me;)).

Duct tapes works for keeping the trap shut (did you happen to see the Clinton Portis interview with the tape over the mouth and the hand written signs?)! Is there anything that stuff can't do????

Good luck and have fun!

You need to bring a foldout chair and find a tree to sit under during the launch and retrieval and don't bring a megaphone :D
