Hello everyone I have a Valco 14V I'm working on and I have some questions about the transom itself. I removed the wood which I found to be rotten causing the aluminum to have corrosion, its not as bad as I've seen it can be, I will post pictures as soon as I take them. What is the best effective way in dealing with this issue, has there ever been anyone that has replaced the entire transom itself with new rivets and aluminum, or even sandwiching new aluminum sheet on either side? Thank you.

anything man-made can be re-made

a few on here replaced transoms

most aluminum boats are made out of 5052 or similar alloy

I just acquired an 81' SeaCraft SS180 with a Johnson 90hp that will need a new transom and I just started doing a bunch of research. If you want I can link stuff that I find along the way.
