That looks about right for what I need but that mounts on the outside of the boat if I am not wrong, right? But if I were to pull the plug out of the fitting and reverse it. I could mount the flange on the outside of the boat and screw the plug in from inside the boat. Is that what your suggesting?

I would think ^^^ could work. You could also mount it on the inside and maybe cut off the keeper tail so it doesn't stick out.

I can't reach under the splash well and touch the plug hole in my boat, so the plug goes from outside to in.

Lots of us with old tin boats paint them and have great results. As is with anything you paint it's all about surface prep.

Once an aluminum boat has been used in salt water and gets a little corrosion on it, getting paint to stick long term requires a good deal of prep, and even when these boats are painted at the factory there are issues with the paint bubbling and flaking in saltwater.
it's a very common subject on forums in his location.

For your bilge drain you can install this kit that has the spacers for AL boats. You will need to make or purchase the flanging tool to install it. That would allow the use of the standard quick release plug or the screw expanding type plug from the inside. That would leave you with the two screw holes to plug with screws and 5200.

Easier route - you could just use one like 64 linked mounted from the outside and sealed with some 5200.

Personally I see no need to have the plug on the inside except for the "pull the plug n run her dry" trick that has never worked to well for me. If that's a concern install a bilge pump.

Ok guys, I have finished completely rewiring my boat to it's new instrument panel and accessories . I now have a new custom belly gas tank being shipped to me and should receive it soon. Thinking ahead after the tank is installed I have decided to use the two part foam instead of the sheet foam that was suggested by some. Here's my question, After I foam the hull bottom and then re- screw my plywood deck back down how does one keep the water from running down the sides and into the bottom where the foam is???? Can I Make some type of a gutter system under the seams of the floor where they meet the side of the boat???
