4.3 GL PBY
Symptoms:
- using a lot of power steering fluid
- steering fluid in bilge
- water and steering fluid at cooler clamp joint
- fuel pump hardwired to ignition
- key wouldn’t shut off engine intermittantly
- removed fuel pump hardwire then wouldn’t run for long
- no 12V at alternator L2 terminal
Diagnosis:
- oil cooler leaking internally and ps fluid going out exhaust
- bad alternator
Replaced oil cooler (what a fun job) and alternator (easy peasy). Runs now without fuel pump hardwire and shuts off consistently with key. Not using power steering fluid.
