We bought a boat with an Evinrude 140 V4 VRO, serial #G 1444479, Model #E140TLCUA, the previous owner has completely removed the VRO system, it now has an electric fuel pump that seems to flood the engine all the time, is there a different fuel pump that we could use and just keep pre mixing the oil, something cheaper than a new VRO

The one we have is a micro electric 7psi fuel pump from autozone..not sure if thats suitable or not. I followed the link and read that and tried to follow the link in that post however it just takes me straight to the pages of different things for sale not directly to anything that would help any suggestions on which fuel pump? We tried to take it to a boat place to have it worked on but because the pther guy had put the electric fuel pump on it they wont touch it

Here ya go, the one to use:

Not the one to use: (although it would be AWESOME to only have to pay $120)

The reason it says 150 and up is because this guy SWEARS that the single bodied fuel pump supplies enough volume for the bigger v4 engines, but Mastertech at Maxrules says it wont supply enough fuel at WOT. SOOOOO, I wouldn't buy the single bodied VRO that Feles suggests to use online.

If I remember right the old V-4 1960's of say 75 to 100 hp used plenty of fuel.---So one of those simple easy to repair pumps might be tried.---I certainly would instead of spending BIG $$$$--I am rather thrifty. --The only way I have made big money is to put a $10 bill on a photocopier and hit the 4 X magnification button.

I am trying to figure out how they make the back to back old style pumps work for the larger motors. They use one with external pulse and one with block mount pulse. Just not sure if they are sealing the hole from the block mount pulse or they are drilling through the bracket and into the body of the other pump??? Not sure how pump with block mount will get its fuel pulses if they just seal it off with the gasket.............

Here is where I am talking about.
