while pulling the old bellows out of the outdrive, someone pulled the gear lube hose off hurriedly and broke the plastice nipple in half. now part of it is in the hose. Can someone give me a part number or a name for this part, or tell me what is the best thing to do now. I bought a new hose....

You could have taken all the time in the world and would have still broken. Sorry setup. Here is the new parts you need.
Get a couple of extra E clips, once you see where it goes, you will realize why.

lol I understand why, I have been checking the area out. Thank you so much for your quick response. I guess I won't be so mad at him anymore for breaking it. Just would have been a lot easier to put this together if he hadn't. Actually I still am mad because I told him to wait until I was sure I needed to replace the hose, and he just pulled it off so quickly.
Anyway I guess I just need the little part, THE QUICK CONNECTOR, is that correct?

Depends on which part you broke off....

You need the bulk head fitting that goes through the transom. I recently bought one on Ebay for about $10 including shipping.

I didin't see the exact piece on ebay...it definitely is the connector that broke -male part pointing down in the outdrive

Why spend money for shipping, just go to your local Merc dealer, he probably keeps a couple in stock, along with plenty of E clips. This is a very common problem any time you pull the bellhousing off.

Trying to take shortcuts with boats will only lead to trouble. Why risk it? But in the end...your boat, your call.

+1 what they said... That's the first thing that came to my mind when I broke mine but then cooler heads prevailed and I bought a new one.

Re: alpha one gen 2 outdrive

well, I am putting the outdrive back on after finally installing the bellows, and I have a dumb question, when I turn the rotor the spline does not turn, why is this? Have I done something wrong, or do these 2 connect after I put the outdrive together?

Re: alpha one gen 2 outdrive

ohhh  I put bellows in, and the bulk head fitting etc but when I push the button for the gear lube to come through to the outdrive from the bottle, I don't get any lube,,,guess I have to pull the hoses to see where it is not coming thru. btw I am a 67 yr old grammy that is just trying to get this boat going for the family. I know a bit about auto mechanics, but not much about boats so thanks everyone who takes the time to reply

Re: alpha one gen 2 outdrive

well I just went out there and shook the bottle around a bit and while looking at which connection I was going to disconnect and check, the gear oil came down - thanks for your input tho, didn't expect a reply so fast. very happy at this moment, have some guys coming this week to put the drive together and I think I'm good now
