Sorry for all the posts but something else just came to mind. When I separated the drive from the transom there was a large rubber gasket where it fit into the drive bellow. when I 1st saw it I actually mistook it for a piece of the bellow. It wasn't really seated and was in rough shape and nicked up. Would that seal allow water in?

That large rubber gasket.....get a new one and glue it inside with bellows cement so it stays in place when you put the drive back on. I'm not sure if water can get in that way. I'm thinking yes. Hope others will chime in to confirm that.

Get the gasket kit which has that rubber gasket, the big gasket (between bell housing and drive) and the o-ring for the water passage. Glue that o-ring onto the bell housing water passage to hold it in place also.

I did replace the big gasket between drive and bell housing, the large round rubber gasket between drive and bellows and the ring at the water passage.
took the boat out and no more notice from gimbal or from turning hard left or right. I don't see anymore gear oil either.
I am having a vibration at idle though that wasn't there before and subsides if I trim it up one press of the button. I am also still getting just a small puddle of water in the bilge.

The water has happened since I've owned the boat and I'm not sure where it comes from.

When I put the drive on I didn't use the alignment tool so maybe that's the cause of the vibration? I had ordered one but it was delayed in shipping and I wanted the boat in the water for the weekend.

I guess ill pull the drive again and see if the bellows has water. The alignment tool will be here Tuesday so ill also use that before 're assembling

I pulled the outdrive yesterday and sure enough there was more water in the bellows. i'll be stopping after work to pick up a new one so I'm hoping the process will go smoothly. If anyone has any little tricks or tips to make it easier that would be great.

Ayuh,..... I use a 1/2" allen key for the hinge pins,...

I find my 1/4" drive rachet set invaluable doin' the band-clamps,....

Follow the factory manual, Exactly, 'n ya should come out of it with no bloody knuckles,....

I also go with the exhaust Tube, over the bellows,...

Just realized I never updated this. So I did pull the bellows and sure enough the ujoint bellow had a small tear about the size of my pinky tip right in one of the folds. So I replaced the bellow with the factory $70 one. It was a pain in the butt for sure but I got it done and I no longer have water coming into the bilge.
So I should be good for a little while now with new bellow, upper yoke seal, gimbal bearing and gear oil.
Thanks for the help guys
