In removing my twin VP 280 outdrives to change seals, bushings, and to correct a leak on one, they appeared to both be aligned straight back, perpendicular to the transom, and I presume that they were on correctly but don't know for sure.

Disregard the flaps on one side - both outdrives have flapper bellows and those flaps are coming off.

Anyway, I read somewhere that the propwash should meet in the center at some distance back. What's the rule on how many feet back? And is this achieved through steering fins on each or a slight inward angle on each steering yoke?

Re: Aligning twin outdrives ?

Don, thank you. Sorry for the double post, but when I went to check my original, it wasn't there.

Anyway, relative to the "toe-out" adjustment, how is this made when the drives are on? It's reasonably easy to adjust the yokes with the drives off, but is it possible with them on?
