Alarm on start up

When I turn the key on and start the motor an alarm sounds in the control and won't go off. What is it for. 1979 16' Lund deep V.

low oil alarm is a beep every 30 seconds. beep......................beep...................

no oil alarm is a beep every 1/2 second or so.beep,beep,beep

overheat alarm is a constant beep.beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

It is a constant alarm at the key. It is on at cold start up and on warm start up and never goes off.

Caution: I'm a complete novice!

I've actually had a faulty alarm (a short or something) and had to replace it. So if it's constant on a cold start, it could be a bad alarm.

It is a constant alarm at the key. It is on at cold start up and on warm start up and never goes off.

The motor is a Johnson 55hp 1979.

Found the problem. The case touches the terminal when tightened down. Bent tab and now all is fine. Thanks everyone.
