The Military claims he's absolutely DEAD, DEAD, and DEAD!!! They matched his fingerprints, face (what's left), and it's HIM, for sure. There won't be any tears around here,,, :D

Prez to address the nation about 7:30am eastern.<br /><br />Apparently Jordan's King Abdullah has had agents tracking him for some time and must've located him. Zarquawi was Jordanian and an embarassment. God Bless King Abdullah!

That is indeed great news.<br /><br />Time will tell what it all means.<br /><br />As my kids used to say, on a long trip:<br /><br />"Are we there yet?"

Big day for Iraq, Interior Ministry positions are all filled, and terrorist #1 assuming room temp. Positive movement for sure.

Re: al-Zarqawi

my bet is it wont make any difference. another nut will step up.<br /> and if you think we are leaveing Iraq or afghanisan your smoking stuff.<br /> we aint gonna leave, ever. at least not until the oil in the region is gone.<br /> with the new pipeline that recently opened and the proposed afghan pipeline we are there to stay.<br /> the caspian sea area just has to much oil for the US to leave.<br /> thats why they are building a roughly 104 acre US embassy in Iraq, construction has been 24/7 for sometime. its going to be the largest US embassy in the world. for such a small country its a rather large facility.<br />however right now there is no plans to ever leave Iraq nor Afghanistan.

You are absolutely right rodbolt. For every Zarqawi there are a thousand nuts waiting to take his place.

Somebody spilled the beans... Sounds like a power struggle internally... days ahead will tell. I think our intel was convieniently tipped off by elements seeking to displace al-Zarqawi.<br /><br />Like the Sopranos... nuthin personal... strictly business.

The left wing mantra is and has been for some time now is: "What's good for America while the Republicans are in power is bad for the Democrats"

Re: al-Zarqawi

Now hold on Mr. Pointer, terrorist #1 is Osama Bin Laden, at least in my opinion. The President is having a good day but let's not celebrate until we get this thing in control.<br /><br />We have had this whole Iraq thing so screwed up that we needed a little good news but this sure does not get us over the hump.<br /><br />I wish the President would admit Iraq was a SNAFU, get the heck out and get back to hunting down the terrorist who threaten us. Them folks in that part of the world live to kill each other so why should we put our troops in the middle of their fight.<br /><br />Anyway, the President deserves a little opportunity to beat his chest with some good news, just want him to put the pressure back where it needs to be. He is a good guy, I think he just got some bad advice.

This is great news for my family, just one step closer to some closure, now if we can just get the big dog.

"Another Nut" has already replaced him. Fortunately they are "Dumber Nuts" as they go to the 2nd and 3rd stringers.

I'm sure Bin Laden already has a crook in his neck from looking over his shoulder, now his neck ought to be going into spasms!
