I was wondering if there are any aftermarket Solex 44PA1 carbs? I have rebuilt mine and think I have the adjustments right but still don't run right. I am going to double check a few things but it's nighttime and curious what the price would be for a rebuilt or aftermarket carb. This is for a 1983 Bayliner Volvo 125/270. Thanks

Re: Aftermarket 44PA1

Many people have asked this exact same question and I think the short answer is no. I have read that a company made a replacement at one time but it was over 1000 dollars or something crazy like that.

Search the forum for those posts.

Google "weber volvo penta" and you'll see the kits. Some people swear by them and others have learned to live with the the Solex. It's certainly possible that your carbureator is worn out or corroded. New ones aren't available but you can try several to find a bowl and lower end that arent corroded or the shaft bores aren't worn out. The carbs need to be cleaned thoroughly to work well but there are many out there working just fine. It all comes down to how much you're willing to spend.

As a side issue - interesting that Google has joined Xerox as a company name used as a verb!
