looks like some braided line and a small stringer or something. I figure I can just pop off the wheel and get it off, maybe not, I really don't know, that's the way it looks...but it's packed in there with grease just like the other side. What type? I'm guessing it's something stupid like "axel grease" and I'm sure this is a stupid question, but hey, I don't know so I'm asking.

OK, thanks! Is that something that I can go into Kregan and pick up or do I have to go to a special store? Is this something that I can do myself? or should I just take it somewhere?

Depends on your mechanical ability. Its actually a very easy task.

If you do have the ability, you take the hub off, take off the seal and look at the number on the seal to see what to buy. Kragen wouldn't be my first choice. NAPA would be better or online.

While you have it off, you can check the condition of the bearings and repack them if needed.

If you don't know what grease is in there, you really want to remove it all first as mixing greases of different bases is a no no. This means cleaning out everything with solvent. I use Sta-lube marine grease.

I had a lot of issues finding trailer seals at auto parts stores...they could order them, but none had them on hand. I find my trailer axle stuff at a farm and ranch supply locally, they have it in stock usually

Ok it looks like you have stuff wrapped around the axle shaft behind the hub , so you should pull the hub off and remove it. and also replace the back seal , when things get wrapped around the seal gets worn out. Those can be found from several local sources depending on what's around , auto parts store is a good one , tractor supply, or if you look in the yellow pages their is a industrial supplier or trailer part suppliers or you can order on line. While you have the hub off you should thoroughly clean and inspect and repack the bearings with new grease , and no don't mix grease types some do not mix well .You can find marine grease at any parts store , Wal-Mart or trailer supply places but you do want to use a marine type simply because it will get dunked in water, and it helps. and you may was well do it to both hubs while your into it , it will save you time later.
