I got a 78 75hp .
I think the advanced timing base needs to be cleaned out and regreased. It doesn't move easily.
When I move throttle up base does not move at all. You can move it by hand though. I know you have to pull flywheel, is there anyway to do that without removal tool?

Why would you not want to use the tool? It is relatively inexpensive to buy and you can even borrow one from an auto parts store like Advance Auto. You may not be able to get the flywheel off without it. The only other item you will need, in addition to the tool, in my opinion, is an impact wrench.

I saw the tool for sale for around 80 bucks. You think I can borrow one from autozone or someone? I don't feel like buying one because it will probably be the only time I ever use it. Is it a hard job, will I have to reset the timing when done?
