I have 89 Bayliner, with a 85hp force outboard, that didn't come with a T/T system. I have picked up a T/T unit to install on it. I would like to test the unit out of the boat. I have the T/T unit along with the relay wire harness and trim switch. Here's what i was thinking of doing.
Hook the red wires coming off relays to battery power. Hook black wires coming off relays to battery ground. Run battery power to red wire on switch and hook up green and blue wires to the relay harness. And then test it. Comments please, I'm good mechanically, but sometimes electrically I'm alittle apprehensive.
thanks Jim.

The harness and relays is so the electric motor doesn't get the wires too hot.
And yes hook the leads to the battery and see if it works??
99% of the time T@T failure is due to the bad connection on the relays.
Take them apart and clean the contacts making sure they make good contact.
A simple test is unhook the wires to the motor itself and hook to a battery.
Blue on +, Green on -, will make unit cycle up reverse the wires won it cycles down.
After the install and If it leaks down the seals in the bottom part of the pump need replacing.
There is NOTHING!!!! in the pump itself you can fix.
It uses 30w oil.
