Looks for some help on installing a tach.
It's a 2000 BF50 with side controls which I bought separately from the engine as it was a repower project.
The control has 7 wires coming from it:
Green/Black
Gray
Black
Yellow/Blue
Double Black
Double Yellow
Double Red
I've heard these called idiot connectors because I guess it's easy to
connect gauges to them?

I bought the 32540-ZV5-9110 wiring harness, and the 37250-ZV5-823
Tachometer.

The tach has 5 wires:
Red/White
Yellow/Black
Black
Gray
Black

The cable has 5 wires at one end:
Black/Yellow
Green/Black
Black
Gray
Yellow /Blue

The other end has 4 separate sets of wires
1st set:
Red/White
Black/Yellow
Black
2nd set:
Red/White flat
Black/Yellow flat
3rd set:
Red/White
Black/Gray
Black
Black/Yellow
4th set:
Green/Black
Yellow/Blue
Black/Yellow
Red/White
Black
Black.

The distance from the remote to where the tach would mount in the console is less than 4 feet as it's an 11ft RIB.

I'm guessing that I misunderstood which cable I needed? Basically, I'm looking to connect whichever of the 7 wires from the remote I need, to the 5 wires on the tach.
The issue is that there are multiples of the same color wires in the harness and some which do not match at all.

Any help much appreciated.

Ok. Idiot gauges indeed. Ha! Got the tach working.
I need to test with the tiny tach when I have more light to see if its accurate.
Its jumpy at idle but smooths out when I apply the throttle.

My 1999 50 is the same, it can be bouncy at idle, but once above 1200-1500 rpm it works perfect. It has been like that since I bought it new, the mechanic that installed it said a resistor could be added somewhere to smooth it out, but I never followed up on it.
