That system is newer that what came on a 79 model 70 HP.-------You need the solenoid for a 3 wire system or relays for a 2 wire motor.

Could I just add a solenoid somewhere on board and run the 2 wire from the solenoid?

The 2 wire motor used relays.----The 3 wire motor used a solenoid for up motion.

Up to 81 were a 3 wire motor.-----82 and newer used a 2 wire motor.-----Both will fit your outboard.-----Just need all the wiring bits for the style you find.

If I was to add tilt and trim is there still a option that if I was to hit something the motor would pop up

Someone mentioned that without the tilt and trim the motor can bounce up if I hit a log or rock, and save the slower end hopefully, if I have tilt and trim it can’t move?

There are thousands of motors out there with power trim.----Does the parts book show an ----" impact sensor valve "-----But yes , during careless boating you can damage a lower unit.

All I can see on the parts list is a relief valve

Part # 18 and 19 and 23 ??------Perhaps look at these same parts ( descriptions ) for the 1984 model 70 HP.

Sure it supposed to tilt up under overload such as running aground. But face it if you whack a big rock at 40 mph something probably will break even if it were mounted on ball bearings
