The island chain where he was found is more or less south of the area in which the guys were fishing and tides could have carried his body there, but the lack of clothing on the body seems strange. "UV rot" could account for deterioration, but I would think that at least scraps of clothing would have been found.

I sure hope he didn't make it to the island alive and end up starving to death, or dying of dehydration. While not too far from a lot of popular fishing spots in the "Biloxi Marsh," which lies along the east side of the Mississippi River, the area in which he was found is far enough away from available launch ramps, that most people don't go that far to fish.

That was a long time to discover him. I wonder if he took his close off and started a fire to signal for help. Sad indeed.
