A Nice Day-Finally

Finally COOL enough to boat here, to my liking.

Saguaro Lake, AZ.

"Saguaro" is the last in a chain of lakes on the Salt River system. All are reservoirs and basically flooded canyons. Sag. is the smallest but still a very good size lake.

The four lakes are upper to lower: Roosevelt, Apache, Canyon, Saguaro.

I do not especially like going to Saguaro. It is the closet to the Metro PHX area and can be very crowded. Typically, with very unfreindly people.

Today, I got on at about 7:00 and was pulling off at about 11:00, on a Friday. It was already getting unruly.

Today wasn't bad, actually.

I did receive some nice comments on the boat. A "Whaler" is an unusual occurance and a "classic" is even more rare.

This boat is a "redesigned" 1976 15' "Sport" model. 1994 Johnson 70 with a 60 hood. No issue there. just a nice hood that looked better than the 70 hood I had. I am all about "clean".

Thanks for the kind words.

Dang! 86* in Minnesota! I came from there so I know that is indeed a blessing.

What is wrong with this picture? It was 72* when I launched and 82* when I pulled out. A high of 98*

The water temp. is usually quite cool in these lakes, maybe a high of 80*. They are all mountain run off and VERY deep. I see depths of 150'+.

Enjoy. We're just coming into, what I think is our boating season. Other AZ residents may disagree.

However, I cannot stand being out in the sun when it is 115*+, I don't care if I'm on the water or not. The water magnifies everything, especially the sun.

It is terrific to go out a bit chilly and leave just heating up a bit. Go home, cook some fish and enjoy afternoon weather in the 80's.:D

THAT is why I live here. It is certainly not because of the boating opportunities.;):)

That is frgn HOT-115 When you go boatn cant you just park in the shade ?:D.. Its tuff to be ON the water, You have to be IN the water. But that can be tough to if the water is really cold. I went campn out that way many moons ago. Same thing - Zillion degrees and the colorado river ran thru our campsite. Was so cold you would cramp and ache. Was wierd. Was like being starving and sitting at a buffet but not being able to eat WTF:p:D

Paul,

My point. There is NO SHADE. Cacti don't present much of a shadow.;)

The Salt River Chain is not nearly as cold as the Colorado. I agree, swimming in the CO. can definitely make one "pucker". Been there, done that. I like "temperate".

Nice vessel there DJ... We have 1/2 dozen of those hulls, about the same vintage, with 50 etecs at the Academy and they hold up to alot of abuse by novice Midshipmen. Ours don't look quite as nice as yours! Yours looks unique, like a shrunken 17' Montauk. :)
