Re: A little long but worth reading

Thanks 18rabbit; I enjoyed your thoughtful post.

While a “world of inalienable rights” constitutes an overwhelming theatre of operations, such is undeniably the principle on which we are morally bound to base our actions.

Of course, whenever principle gets anywhere near the political arena it is quickly emasculated thru the time worn methods of mockery, scorn, role reversal, play acting, demagoguery or assassination – character or otherwise.

Sort of like Cheney having given up a multi $million golden parachute to accept the nomination but somehow being branded as in it for the money… Sort of like habitually demonstrating for peace while the leaders of those oh-so-innocent enemy countries were executing as many as 10 Hiroshima’s of their own people a year… Sort of like a candidate selling his country down the river (say, with aid and comfort to intractable enemies old and new who are unequivocally committed to our collective destruction) in his quest for power. Sort of like NBC, CBS et. Al.

Isn’t there a recent movie about the ramifications of principle entering the presence of politics? I hear it doesn’t have a happy ending…
