Here"s something I saved from Christmas 2006. It was posted here by iboats forum member bjcsc. For those that were here then it will bring back some real memories, especially the memories of the ever changing "forum upgrades". I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I did and would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

'Twas the night before Christmas at iboats.com
And things were real quiet in every forum
Their vessels were stored for the winter with care
With hopes that the springtime soon would be there

The engines were pickled, of that there's no doubt
And Don S's "How-to" was nearly worn out
They'd fogged and they'd drained and placed cover and cap
and settled their boats for a long winter's nap.

When out on the web there arose such a clatter
I opened my browser to see what was the matter!
I clicked on my bookmark, "iboats" it stated
Then waited and waited and waited and waited!

5 minutes later when the page finished loading
"Welcome to the world of DIY boating!"
I logged myself in as bjcsc
Then again, and again, 'till it knew it was me

Was the problem in Dockside? The H-O-T-D?
O'BJ zap something we'd all like to see?
I clicked here and there but it all seemed the same
With the regular players we all know by name:

There's QC! And JB!
And Crunchy to start!
And Reel Poor! And Techno,
Whose logic is art!

To the top of the post count!
They're having a ball!
Now type away! Type away!
Type away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky
so onto the forums the posters they flew,
with heads full of ideas, and some tech help, too.

And then, in a twinkling, I saw an "Ayuh"
And there was Bond-o, dot dot dot comma.
Teaching tricks and technique so as prey we don't fall
And " Any Grease, Is Better,..... Than No Grease At All".........

You won't find Don S. in the Dockside horde ,
'cause he's carrying the torch on the Mercruiser board.
When all seems hopeless they call him by name,
Then he says not to, but helps just the same.

Our problems they range, simple to severe,
What kind of oil? Won't go into gear!
Won't crank and won't start and can't get a spark
And "4.3 liter, which timing mark?"

Alphas and Bravos and Stringer OMCs,
To "I have no idea" and "Someone help, PLEASE".
And no matter the times the same questions get posed,
They answer, as we know if you search you'll get hosed.

And though slow loading is often the case
And some posts that you make just go out in space .
We all find ourselves coming back to this place
Where we all have a handle, and no one a face.

So at the tail end of yet another year,
Of working and boating and fixing my gear.
I'd like to thank iboats and all of you here,
For the help and encouragement and kicks in the rear.

And for those names left out, I didn't mean to gloom y'all
But you try to rhyme something with Boomyal!

And I will exclaim, as I sail out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

That's pretty cool. First time I've seen it..
I wouldn't even come to Dockside back then. Scary place

Thanks RP

Nice.

Blast from the past for sure, kind of like you Reel Poor.

How've you been since the storm hit?

You need to spend some more time here.

Good to hear from you.
