98 Mercrusier Alpha out drive I. D.

I just purchased a 1998 18' boat with a 135 hp Mercruiser and Alpha outdrive. Of coarse I got no manuals with the boat. I'm looking to replacing some worn parts on the outdrive. I see some parts for generation 1 or 2 or just plain Alpha etc. How do I know what generation outdrive I have or where on drive do I find model information? Thanx

You have an Alpha I Gen II outdrive. They have all been Gen II since 1991

Ayuh,.... As noted above, yer's should be a Gen.II, if it's original....

As for shoppin' parts, there only 1 way to be sure, 'n that's by usin' the Serial Numbers...
You should find it up near the top of the drive, portside....
