The grease fitting in there is the replacement. I need to remove the bushing or drill out the grease fitting because the grease was dried out when I bought the motor. Yeah, I know I should have checked that; now I know for next time.
In your pictures I don't even see your bushings....I thought you took them out already.

By drilling out the fitting, I meant putting grease inside the frame tube, shown below, outside the tilt trim tube

It turns out the original owner did not install bushings? I'll order some bushings for 98 90 HP tilt. tube. Based on how tight the tilt tube slides through that frame, I'm not sure I can even get bushings in there.

I finally have a tilt tube that is not seized. Now that I can lift the outboard, the locking tab will not move forward or back, or pull out. How do you fix this?
Thanks & Happy New Year

With the motor at full tilt, the lock should rotate to contact the transom clamp. Mine was not as corroded as yours, but took a couple of taps from a plastic hammer to move it, since it had not been used for a long time.

Thanks, does it rotate forward /counterclockwise to fit in the gap? I'll hit it with some silicone spray too.

My '98 Johnny 150HPV6 has a grease fitting under the manual tilt lock. That is for the steering swivel. Yo need ti tilt the motor and swing the manual lock down to get to it.

It also has 2 grease fittings on the tilt tube.
Chris1956,
I looked for a grease fittings to lubricate the swivel when the motor was fully raised. I took photos of and could not see a fitting. On the back of the swivel, could removing those 4 bolts gain access to a fitting to grease the swivel? Thanks, I just want to make sure everything is lubricated well

In your picture 1 there is a manual tilt lock. Underneath that is a grease fitting for swivel. You may need to tap it down with a plastic hammer.

Thanks, I got the lever up and it locked the motor I then supported it and removed the lever to see if there was a grease fitting. I could not easily pry of that plastic piece, but do you think under that is a grease fitting?

The parts book shows 3 grease fittings on the midsection / transom bracket.----Should be in plain view I think.

I have the tilt tube well lubricated. I'm worried about the swivel where it rotates on the steering hinge. That seems stiff when i turn left to right. Could you send me a photo from the parts book?

I've never seen a grease fitting in there. 2 on the tilt brackets and one on the swivel tube.

It's the one on the swivel tube that I'm looking for, but if it's obvious, I'm missing it. Would the swivel tube fitting be at the top by the motor or down near the lower unit?

More towards the top.

Edit, actually I think it's down low.

All I could find online. Might be broken off or missing. Look for a hole.
