Hey Y’all,

I purchased my 97 Maxum 150hp Mercury boat sometime last year and ended up seizing the lower end unit. I had gotten it loosened up but the unit was too far gone from operational. I read somewhere online where a 115hp Mercury LEU would fit. I found one locally and gave it a shot. Turns out the bolts are 1/8 inch off from the 150hp.
My question is, if I were to disassemble both lower end units, would I be able to use the 115hp gears and bearings in the 150hp? Are they similar or too far apart from being able to “swap”? Will the 115hp gearings hold up to a 150hp engine?

Both Lower end units are of the same era (around 1997)

Thanks!

I am going to say no because I bet the gear ratio is different. Look at an SEI unit
