96 mercury 40 upper engine mounts

My upper engine mounts are worn and looking for advice in changing them. My main question is wether or not I need to take off the power head to get at them or not. Thanks.

Yes the power head will have to be removed to get at the nuts holding the mounts in View attachment 179756 The mounts should look something like this and bolt through the midsection. The rubber wears out and they will need to be removed from these outer casings View attachment 179758
