I have done a rebuild on my boat and motor. I bought a new control box.
After setting the timing wuth a light?, adjusting link and sync.
My idle is so low. Tack reads
900 but its old and notice it was showing that with key off, however it reads an increase in rpm. 1000 sounds better.

I belive the idle adjusmemt is set using the throdle cable. Its adjust as dar as can be, the wheet on the timming plate is not touching at idle. , should it be? Samr problem getting in fowward and reverse.
When adjudted to hit forward, ot has to be push futher to hit reverse.
Is the controller the problem?
It aftermarket, same cables.

Pardon my spelling, its just the way it is.

Since you are doing your own work, you might invest in a factory service manual. Marineengine.com sells them. Have your model number handy.

I have, just have not recieved it yet, for now im using Selco.

I cant find the wide open throttle timing in this book. It referes to using an analyzer. Im using a timing light. Joe says it should 4 degrees less than the manufactors setting. But i cant fint the settings.

Cannot set timing on a 60° motor with timing light, the flash will cause the optical sensor to read incorrectly, must use analyzer. Joes method will not work on 60° engines
