96 Force 50Hp won't turn over in water

so it will start and run on muffs but put it in a tank of water and it has a hard time turning over ugh.

Compression test?
Clean the starter.
Make sure the connections are good?

I had 122 on both cylinders. Clean connections and new battery. I have a different starter I'll try.

Firing on both cylinders? Mine was doing the same thing, and only one cylinder was firing. Ran on muffs, but didn't have enough oomph to run in water. Oddly enough, at one point, cylinder one and two were firing at the same time!

So Jerry was correct. The one connection I failed to clean, the starter connection That was it! Thanks Jerry
