If you look at the attached photo, tell me what that is at the bottom of the pre-formed tube coming off the carb that connects to a rubber hose with clamps to a lower fuel line. Is that a check valve? filter?. Thanks

Not sure but doesn’t look original….what’s the year & engine you have there? With the model # on that sticker, you can then look it up in a parts catalog, & see what is supposed to be there as far as a fuel line…looks like someone buggered that up & seems to be leaking…ahh ok I see it’s a 1995 OMC Cobra 5.0. Holley carb.

That's the remnants of AQP style hose fitting.
An expense, machine fabricated assembly.
Assume someone rigged it up instead of replacing with original

Sierra makes flex fuel line with the fittings installed, that may work for you. It's a carb engine so its all low pressure stuff. I'm pretty sure after looking at an OMC catalog most of that stuff is NLA, but because that is a joint venture Cobra (meaning that, it is the same as a Volvo SX of the same vintage) you might be able to get the fuel line from Volvo.

from the OMC catalog, they show it as NLA, but you can look on ebay, NLA Marine parts, etc by the part number.
Or, learn how to make up a new fuel line yourself, like a brake line.
here's one, see if they still have it...

Thanks so much. I'll look into replacing that fuel line going to the carb. The Sierra flexible one seems it be easiest. Thanks again!

The metal tube is nothing more than 3/8" metal brake line that is formed

Shade tree for sure, looks like something I'd do, if the hose is good then just snug the clamps occasionally.

I wouldn’t cobble up something like that on an inboard boat the risk of something bad happening & liability is just way too high. Metal line only or approved flex line like Sierra sells.
On my boat trailer when I installed brakes way back in ‘04 I used stainless line except for the rubber hoses going to the backing plates. Not hard to do if you have the right tools.

Follow up on this. I took it to the dealer and they replaced it all with a one-piece fuel line. Leak is solved. Thanks for the info/advice.

Great you’ll rest easier that you fixed it right.

Lou,
Rather than start a new post/thread I thought I'd just ask here. The trim and tilt on this boat works OK. All the way up and all the way down, every time without fail, uninterrupted. However, I notice 2 things. If the boat sits for a long period of time with the drive fully up, it doesn't hold, it very, very slowly works its way down. Also, when taking it up or down, especially going full up, I hear a few "knocks" but is does not interrupt/affect the unit from moving up. Keep in mind its a '95 OMC 5.0L with a replacement Volvo Penta SX Cobra drive. Let me know if I should post this separately

Well that’s a problem that believe it or not I have not had yet even though mine is a good bit older. I would post it up in the VP section because those models are really the same as Volvos. Might be seals in the trim rams or the pump. Any leaks from the trim rams?

No leaks at all. Just those "knock" noises and the fact that it won't hold the drive up for a long period of time. I'll post it in VP section. Thanks Lou
