can anyone tell me if these res measurments are correct?

ground to red/white .031
'' red .031
'' blue/white 2.104
'' blue 2.030

dig.meter set for kohm.dont have dva can only do this.
also on trigger i was doing res. test and noticed that it i wiggle the harness, the ohm reading will
fluctuate.and on 2 of the wires
the res.drops below what the manual says where it should be. is this normal?

thanks

Re: 95 150 efi stator question

Dont even look close.....
No fire at all:
1. Inspect the flywheel outer and trigger magnets to see if they are loose or broken.
2. Check resistance from the blue and blue/white stator wires to engine ground. OEM reads from 3350 - 4050 ohms (CDI stators will
from 2100-2400 ohms). Check resistance from red and red/white to engine ground. It should be 90 - 140 on OEM stators, and 28-
35 ohms on CDI's. DVA (peak voltage) test stator output. It should be 180v or more on the blue low speed coils and 25v or more
on the red high-speed coils.
3. Disconnect the rectifier/regulator and retest. If the fire returns, replace the rectifier/regulator.
4. Disconnect red and red/white wires and retest. If DVA test above was OK, the switch box is usually bad

Re: 95 150 efi stator question

ok im back. so the resistanc test is actully ok . its a cdi stator and according to fazt reply it within specs.now another qoestion....i tested stator out put "blue wires and red wires" going to packs...and according to specs it is within range on low and high side.now this is at idle and "just reved up ", not in gear, while in water.is it safe to say that stator is ok at this point? im getting a solid spark on all cyls. at idle 1000 rpm?

Tough question, it MIGHT be suspect, broken but abutted wires can vary Ohm's readings, HOWEVER, the trigger coils are passed by a magnet in the hub causing a small electrical voltage that CAN sway an Ohms meter reading.

Reasons like this make the use of a DVA meter far more reliable indicator.

What model motor and what are the problem(s) you are attempting to solve?

Re: 95 150 efi stator question

i have a 95 150efi mariner.the problem is sometimes when at full throttle ,or mostly when i slow to a stop and try to take off it boggs .even while at idle i can tell that its not rite.and sometimes while at idle i can hear it change and idle better then i know that its running good again.at this point i can run down lake for a while ,idle down, stop, starts all over again.sometimes it will kickin all of a sudden and run great. things iv checked....

i did a dva test along with resistance test according to manual specs it all checks." stator".

didresistance on trigger ..check fine

im getting strong spark at idle on all cyls"jumping gap about 3/8 to 7/16..checked this while while its acting up
at idle.

rebuilt fuel pump .no change.. checked fuel pressure while it acting up ,about 38psi..never changed.

compression is about 120 per cyl.

tested tpi switch and it checks fine ,according to manual.

iv replaced all fuel line from top of tank to fuel rail.

removed anti siphon.

something iv noticed wrong that im not sure about is the tach needle will jump up and down sometimes while at idle .i mean way up .but engine never changes.i can see on my fishfinder that volt regs. are charging like there supposed to.or it tops at 14volt at wot.

now a few years ago one of the volt regulators went bad .so i replaced them both.that was when all this started not sure i f that had any thing to do with it. any way that about it hope some one can help.......thanks

Re: 95 150 efi stator question

Disconnect and tape off the yellow stator wires from both voltage regulator/rectifiers and test run the motor.

Any improvement?

Reconnect ONE reg/rect and test run.

Disconnect that one and reconnect the other one.

If the problem can be isolated to one reg/rect, replace it.
