91 90 hp force 20 min lost power

I have a 91 90 HP force outboard. I took my boat to a repair man and he said the compression was off on one of the cylinders. He said the cylinder that it was connected to was for when it is in idle. He then said that as long as I could get the boat started in the water I will be ok. We went to the lake and it ran fine for about 15-20 minutes and then lost all power. I was able to make it back to the dock before it just died. It went from full speed to no wake zone speed. Any suggestions?

do a compression check..sounds like that cylinder finally failed....post the results of each cylinder here.

And find a better repairman. It sounds like he gave you a raft of bull Sugar Honey Iced Tea
