90hp merc alarm??

got a 90hp merc 2 stroke 2007 model,,anyway...had motor hooked to waterhose,,water was circulating thru the motor andwater was comin out the lil "pee" hole,,,,after about 5 mins..an alarm started goin off,,whats that about?? i shut motor instantly

I would guess either thermostat stuck or poppet valve malfunctioned. Both are pretty cheap and should be replaces as maintenance items occasionally.
