90hp 1990 evinrude no alarm

I just purchased a 1990 evinrude 90hp sunbird sp160sf.
my question is should there be an beep when you turn the ignition key on to let you know the alarm is working so if any other faults happen like VRO failer or over heat I will know?

check wiring, could be bad horn, in salt water environment the rust out.

I found a fuse in the wiring and wa la the alarm works now
