03 mercury 90hp acts like it is slipping out of gear around 2200 rpm. it will go about 7 mph without noise or slipping but once i go over 2200rpm it revs up really high and has no forward thrust. would love to hear if anyone has any ideas.

use the search function for ?spun hub?

really easy to find out with a permanent marker or simply try another prop. But, with what you describe, i'm almost sure.

mine is a solid hub not a two piece. if i had spun the hub would it still push the boat at 10mph?

yes, past 10mph the rubber loose its ?grip?. Simply try a spare prop if you have one or, with your current prop, draw a line with a permanent marker, put some ?liquid paper? or make a small groove with a chisel, whatever you want, on the inner AND outer part of the hub. Try it on the water and recheck if the two marks are still aligned.

there is no rubber core. it is a stainless steel solid prop. when i turn the prop with motor in gear i can feel the pistons moving.

It has either a rubber insert or a shear pin (old). Borrow a prop if you don't have one and give it a try, before spend money on other repairs

As he said, i've never heard or saw a solid core consumer use prop. They may exist for very specialized applications like racing but i'm pretty sure that's not your case.

No such critter as a solid hub unless you are using a high performance cleaver type prop with water over the blade which is made to accept a couple hundred hp and run 90 + mph.

Either you have a plastic/bronze/brass removable hub, recent invention, or the old style (which you can't see from the outside) rubber insert slip hub.....with the brass/bronze spline to slide onto the prop.

Now that we understand each other, what do you have......Oh, the Avatar of mine is my '02 90 in action @ 50+ mph running the latter, before E10 was the only fuel available around here.
