There should be a small, oblong aluminum tag on the housing or upper shaft of the motor, with your serial number. Sometimes the year will be obvious, SJ036389, for instance, would likely indicate an '89. But if you want to be absolutely certain, just call your closest repair shop and give them the number. I've never had one refuse to help me...<br /><br />Steelhead fisherman have longer rods!
You realize the motor is probably stolen. Dealers in my area will not sell you parts without a model and serial number.<br /><br />Type the model number in google and see what comes up.
David, <br /><br />The serial number from the "freeze plug" R8543257, comes up as a 1990 model, rope start, short shaft. The matching model number is E10RES.<br /><br />The 332162 appear to be a part number for the cylinder head.<br /><br />Hope this helps.<br />-John
