89 Force 50hp- NO WATER! HELP!

I recently purchased a boat with a 1989 Force 50 Outboard model 507X9A - The motor was unused for 3 years. After starting it using both the water ears and starting it in a barrel, there was no water flow. I installed a new pump kit. Double checked the position of the vanes, made sure it was on the drive pin, removed the thermostat, and checked that the water tube was clear. STILL NO WATER FLOW, No Steam.
I have read the forum from other force owners with no water flow. I understand the water mists from the exhaust. I have nothing at all. Is there something I'm overlooking without taking it apart again? If I do take it apart again, is it posible to spin the driveshaft with a heavy duty drill to check water flow, making sure that I do not damage the splines?

how long are you waiting for the water to appear? mine takes about 30 secs to appear...

No water appears at all after about one minute of running. I am afraid of it overheating because I set off the alarm once already. I read one response to another fellow in the forum about starting it with the thermostat removed and to see if water or steam appears. Nothing with that, either. I guess that it will have to come apart once more. Was sealer supposed to be used on the pump housing itself ? I didn't see any when I took it apart the first time and I didn't use any with the new pump. Thanks for responding. It's frustrating.

Assuming the water tube is in the correct position, I would ask if you are sure you re-installed the pump housing properly? If you have rotated the housing 180 degrees, the intake is covered and you are not getting water into the housing.

I have the lower unit off again. I put the water ears on it to see if the pump is getting water. The ears seem to be useless, even though brand new, on the Force water intake. I now have the unit immersed into water and I have hand turned the pump. It seems to be pumping. I will get back to you after checking out some more things.

I double-checked the impeller vanes(after lifting the housing), the housing position and the tightness of the retainer bolts. They were all O.K. Will get back.

I would check the water lines coming from the water pump to the termo take thermo off and put a water hose on that see if water comes out, if not there is ur problem maybe a clogged water line try flushing it with a water hose with the motor off advise me what u find.

I adapted a water hose to the water tube, removed the thermostat, turned on the water and it blew out of the thermostat hole. It was hard to tell if anything foreign came out with the water, but the flow was very good. I put the lower unit back on and started the engine with the thermostat out. Water shot out of the hole in about 3 seconds. I reinstalled the thermostat and ran the engine immersed in a water barrel. It pumps water. Problem solved. Thank all of you that offered advice.
