G'day from Australia.
Went out fishing last night and I drifted into the shallows. Got stuck in the mud and couldn't get out for about 15 minutes. Tried throttling the engine but nothing was happening, when we finally got out of the mud, we drove for about 2 minutes, then I noticed steam and a plastic burning smell coming from the head, as soon as I seen the steam, the engine stopped. Woke the poor old coast guards up at 11:30pm and got a tow back in.
Got home, took the case off and noticed 2 wires coming from one of the top pistons had both melted. Would these wires be hard to replace ? Usually I can hear a noise coming from the throttle control thing when I turn the key but I get nothing. The tilt and trim stopped working too. The prop still spins and the top still spins aswell so at least thats a good sign.
I also noticed mud and weed inside the holes in the leg. How would you go about cleaning them out ? I think the mud got in the leg and cooked the wires ?
Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.
And could someone point me in the direction of a workshop manual or similar for this o/b.
