I always add stabil to my gas just in case it sits a while.

Don't use Stabil. Use the older gas up for washing parts or in your lawn mower. Always use fresh gas in a machine that is of a higher dollar value, such as Outboard Motors.:D

Yea, thanks for tip, Zephyr. My fuel doesn't really get that old though. I only buy a few gallons at a time when I go out to fish. I just add stabil as an extra precaution, even spike it sometimes with a dash of seafoam. Overkill I know.

I had some time this afternoon and found the bolt that I was missing to get the starter off and was able to pull the carb. As you can see from the pictures the inside looked like it had never been used (to me) I cleaned it and reassembled it but have not had a chance to run it maybe tomorrow.

That motor looks like it just left factory, amazing. YES carb looks clean. The problem, however usually is the small holes in top of carb body, you can see them when you look into the carb throat, from the motor side, just above throttle butterfly, in top of carb throat. Those small holes drilled i carb body are your iddle and low speed jets. Only the slightest dirt there, often not even visible, and you are running on a leaner mixture that your carb is calibreted to. Usually it will make the motor not respond on carb adjustments, because holes are partially blocked. Remove all plastic parts, gaskets, flotaervalve and float, keyholeshaped silicone gasket around low speed adjusting needle, soak carb over night, blow all passages thru with compressed air, and put together again. that motor will serve you for decades if taken well care of.
