Your engine is relatively old. Back when these were produced, the horn only performed one function-to warn of an major overheat. Your engine will sound the horn when it gets to 212 degrees, and shut of around 175. I would not run the engine when the horn is going off, since 212 is too high for sustained operation. You really need to determine if your water pump is functioning properly and if everything in the thermostat housing operating normally.
