Waht up everyone...first poster and looker. Alright, i purchased this boat, 3 years ago. Been running great up until this weekend (first time out this season). During winter, i installed new spark plugs..CHAMPION RV12C, i know now, bonehead move.. The "xreference" i had got, from the plugs i replaced. Here's the problem, the boat flat out sucks. Has no jump, cant get past 3k rpm, and it takes FOORRREEEVVVER to get to that mark. I'd really like to have my boat back running the way it was. I dont remember the spark plug #'s beforehand. Only info i can give is that its a PLEASURECRAFT gm350lg, stamped on it. I'd really like to start where the problem originated, installing the correct plugs....thanks for any help

Use NGK or ACDelco marine plugs. I've heard to stay away from the champions, I don't even know how they are still in business.

No go 744. Installed the BR6FS this morning, and hit the water..(have lake in my backyard), and still ran like crap.. It will idle all day long with no miss/hesitation..etc, but the slightest throttle when in gear, it just takes a turd. Wont pop outta the water ,and takes forever to hit 2k, then it'll climb slowly to 2500-3k, but starts backfiring bad at 3k.

Man, all i did was change plugs from winter time. She got put away after the last Aug river run, running great, and now this crap. :blue:

I did change the (closest to driver side) plug wires to see if it changed anything, and seemed to have improved "slightly", but why? So, i inspected the lengths to each plug, and i'm sure i installed the correct wires to plugs, back in feb.

OP: Sounds like you need to rebuild the carb, I am imagining debris got loose over the winter break and that's causing fuel delivery issues.

Lawnmowers, OMC outboards, and Dodges need plugs too...

I almost made a snide comment about lawnmowers in my original post but decided not to. :)

Alright guys, i'll take a look. At this point, i'll do anything, to save the summer, especially for the daughter.

You know, i do have a fuel smell going on, when running/testing on garden hose..but that started on the last run of last summer.

I had the carb off, and "went" thru it. Edelbrock 1409. Wasnt tough at all, actually, seemed easier then the seadoos fuel circuits i work on..

:thumb: thanks guys.

I wouldnt mind, installing a new cap, rotor and coil. By chance, you might know what #'s for parts i need. I went out and looked at it but the cap..etc, is not stamped with any p/n...s/n PLH-WR-L10 / S/N 2411-42

That's a GM HEI ignition setup, the cap should be the same as something like a 1987 Camaro 350 v8 engine, I don't think that's a marine distributor however I can't vouch for your engine as I'm not familiar with what PCM was using back then.

Ayuh,.... That's an automotive distributor, 'n Not marine in anyway,...
Boat's won't run right with a vacuum advance,...

'n,... It's a Bomb, waitin' to go Boom,...... No spark suppression,...

The Delco Est is a drop in Marine replacement that's reasonably priced,...

Wonderful..:uncomfortableness:. Bondo and $500, guys, i really appreciate the info/help, your throwing my way...:thumb:

Now, to the Delco EST, just find one, that says, "equivalent" to any v8 from 65-2011 GM marine motors, because thats a few that i 've found. Also, the lingo being thrown out with, interrupt wire, surpass, advance timing with throttle movement...., it might as well be written in chinese..(no offense to anyone).

Is it the entire unit, i'll need to pull the trigge on...$245-$300, or just the cap/rotor assy. If entire unit, man, i'll need the help in, installing it, getting correct timing and what piston to bring to TDC....

Seadoos i can fix blindfolded, but this motor/system, is a way different beat, but willing to learn it...

Ayuh,.... It's a Complete Ignition system, distributor, 'n control,...

Drop it in, time it, 'n Go,...

SBC's 'n most motors are timed off #1,...

Re: 84 supra no go

what up guys...still waiting for arrival of dist. kit. I was reading through post, and came across one that i remember, looking at when having hatch open to motor. It mentioned how, the "cable" wasn't adjusting the "throw-arm"..lack of better terms, to the tranny. My question is, could that be relevant to the motor not advancing in timing/rpms? Does the advancement in rpms/timing, create a movement of that cable hooked to the tranny, to move the boat in forward, advancing its mph with the increase of rpms/timing of motor? Apologize if it sounds anal, just try'n to word it, to how i interpreted it.

Re: 84 supra no go

lol, thanks Bond-O. A little OT, but i was just looking at the intake manifold, and since the distr will be off soon, i was thinking of replacing the intake..(pics would show, its seen better days). The # on it 346250, but also, theres an "11" under those sets of numbers. I've tried xreferencing it, but only find the 346250 number with different # under it. Cant find any with the "11" under it. Will ANY #346250 intake work? Also, if so, will the Edelbrock 2101 Performer be a direct replacement...thanks again guys!
