13 yr old son took his 9' boat into the marsh and I assume sucked up a bunch of mud and silt into the engine. Cant turn it over with pull start but can turn prop by hand however its difficult to do. Whats the best approach to freeing up the prop shaft and getting it to tuen over again. Fuel was mixed at 50-1 so not the issue. Any help would be appreciated

Remove prop and check/clean for seaweed or fishing line wrapped around prop shaft. Remove spark plug and use pull start to turn over motor to be sure cylinder is clear. If he had somehow dropped that motor and submerged it in the water, would he admit it? I know my son did that with my Yamaha 4HP, motor jumped off the back of my canoe, but he cleaned it up real good right away, so it was O.K. He told me what he did, but some kids might not to save their butts! Good Luck!
