Not sure what the click is all about. It could have something to do with your unit being a hydro-shift assist. I have the same drive but I have not gotten hands-on with the shift mechanism inside the lower unit. I keep trying to remember if mine makes any kind of 'click' when it goes into gear. It seems that there is some semblance of one.
