78 johnson 50 hp won't get up and go

I have have 78 Johnson 50hp and I'm having trouble with it getting up and going. It will plane out with just me in the boat, however, when my wife and son get in the boat it won't plane out. The motor is on 15' tri-hull. I bought the boat back in Feb 04 and it's my first boat and just wanting to know if anyone could help. Thank You

I HAD A SIMULAR PROBLEM <br />its fuel related lean carbs (rebuild kit)my pronlem was the fuel pump i rebuilt it and i plane out with speed you should be doing about <br />26mph at least with that motor and boat <br />read my posting on (79 85 hp will only do 12 mph)<br />you could also adjust the trim move the motor closer to the boat if that doesnt work the get a lower pitch prop

Might try a Doel-Fin Hydrofoil on there to get on plane quicker. Smart Tabs are another option.. This all assumes it's running at it's best right now..<br /><br /> Doel-Fin Hydrofoil

i have a 15 ft chaparral rated for 65 butit has a 50 0n it . it will plain out with me and my wife and 2 grand sons . total weightaround 600 lbs. 4 grownups it want plain . papasage
