It starts rite up, runs great for a few minutes, then goes dead. Then it will not start at all. Plugs fire 1/2 inch. after cooling or waiting a while, it will start instantly. runs goes dead again. So it always has fire and fuel. I don't know???? Any ideas or answers greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Some simple things to do.-------Try operating the manual fuel pump.-----Test run with another hose and tank.-----Replace impeller.-----Check flywheel key.------Check wiring from under flywheel to the powerpack.

Did you mean to say 70's model instead of 77s? If it has condensers like the 74 and 73 etc, that's probably the problem. It'll fire with bad condensers but won't run well and will die when it heats up while still showing fire at the plugs. The fire will be more orange colored. Bad coils will do that as well. I would look at the condensers though.

The part where the plugs fire 1/2" after cooling or waiting for a while suggests to me that the coil may have an internal connection that breaks when it gets hot.
