77' 35E77C no spark in upper plug

[J35]

This motor came with the boat Ii just bought and has not been run in many years. I have been going through and replacing and repairing as needed and got to the point of starting to fire it up. I have a bad solenoid so I am having to jump the solenoid. I have a spark in the lower cylinder but none in upper. How do I go about testing/checking to determine the problem?

You don't have any points to contend with, I would swap the coils and see if the no spark condition moves with the coil. If it does not move, you might have a power pack problem.

ok, I assume i will have to cut the wires that feed the coil to swap as they seem to be molded into the coil and the harnes. Am I missing something there?

Look at #42, you should be able to remove the connectors from the plug.

Yep, bad coil.
