running out of things to do.... So I added some yellow to paint scheme. I want to find the right green color and do the same thing. Also stenciled up the inside walls and added rod holders.

Are you planning to add more vertical bracing? If someone slips while standing and grabs the top of the sidewalls, I'm not so sure that the base brackets will be strong enough to overcome the leverage loads imposed from the top.

I was thinking of something like so:

I have a brace like this on each side. I think Im done needing to support them, they really stiffened up once I put the back plates to all the brackets under the gunnel. I can grab the top and pull myself up when climbing in. Im pretty confident these arent going anywhere.

Good deal. Glad to know that you'll be safe out there on that cold water.

Ok guys, i picked up stuff to run the wiring to figure out the switch panel. Question is... do i run all grounds from whatever i run to one spot somwhere and only the neg wire from the panel to the batery? Then all positives to the corresponding switch.

Think the bolts i added for the wall would be a good ground on the under side of the gunnel?

No, no, no. You don't ground anything to the hull, g0ne. That's a good, well not so good, way to melt a tin boat through current flow and the resulting electrolysis. Especially in salt or brackish water where the ducks are.

The best way to run power and grounds is to add a 12 volt bus bar and a ground bus bar, both connected directly to the battery. Run all the fused 12 volt power from the bus to the accessories and the grounds back to the ground bus. Keep the accessory grounds isolated from the tin hull.

Thanks GA, im not too electrically handy at this point in time. Ill look into the bus bars. I saw them in diagrams I briefly looked at.

looking at them, I think I can make my own.

That's the ticket, g0ne. Glancing quickly, the diagram looks like a good one.

Got my panel mounted on the bracket that came with the boat. It was intended for the throttle controls originally. Still gotta get the bus bars. I dont have enough bolts on hand to make my own...

Took some playing but I got the running lights and the bildge pump wired to the switches and working.

Picked up the bus bar for grounding at ace hardware today. I could only get the switch lights working until I ran the neg wire from the switch panel to the bus. Then ran another neg wire from bus to the battery and then the running lights lit up. pretty cool feeling.

Rivets didnt hold this tight so its now bolted on. Each side is some what mounted different back here but both are as strong now. I would like to get a block of wood under here like the other side one of these days. Its on the things to do list.

Picked up more locking nuts and put them on all the wall bolts. I need a second set of hands to finish the 4 bolts at the stern end. Also on the things to do list.

Things that got done:

added clips to use the battery I have for now. Frees up two hands while checking things out. Also cleaned up the wiring in the back.

Left some extra wire on each line so dont run short on rewiring/new connectors and what not.

Well Sparkie, the wiring looks good from here. :thumb: Good idea adding some extra wire. The stuff only stretches so far.

Good to see ya got your Heinie back in the boat. :D

the flavor is goood!

And let there be light! Once I get the spot lights in and wires ran I can bolt the panel in and then plan on battery placement.
